Everyone loves ice cream or gelato, it doesn’t matter what time of year it is! Dean and I tried nearly every flavour when we visited Italy this year – his favourite is the Amarena Cherry and mine is Tiramisu. This gelato has all the flavours of Christmas and mince pies so it’s a real winner!
What’s the difference between ice cream and gelato I hear you ask? Gelato uses condensed milk instead of cream so it has much less fat. Also it doesn’t require churning as ice cream does which results in a smoother, silkier texture.
Christmas holidays will soon be starting here and you will want to pack your freezer full of Christmas treats so this is great to make ahead of time. One of our favourite things is watching a Christmas film with ice cream – Dean always says Home Alone is his favourite.
This gelato is one of the easiest things I’ve ever made, you don’t need an ice cream machine – just mix everything together and pop it in the freezer! Give it a go, I guarantee that everyone one will love it.
