This orange and almond loaf cake with a marmalade glaze is definitely one of the easiest cakes I’ve ever made but also one of the most delicious!
If you like baking then chances are you’ll have most of the ingredients for this recipe in your cupboard. All you’ll need extra is some marmalade and oranges. So when you get asked to make a cake last minute, don’t panic, this recipe is a real lifesaver!
There a few reasons why I’ve made this cake, the first being that it’s Seville oranges (the key ingredient to a great marmalade) are currently in season. Yes I know I’ve cheated and used ready-made marmalade, however, if you’re feeling adventurous then be sure to make your own!
Love a good loaf? Try this Courgette (Zucchini) and Lemon Loaf Cake with Maple Icing!
The second reason: Christmas has recently passed us and I’m sure some of you, like us, were given a jar of marmalade that you don’t want to go to waste. So this cake is ideal and you will have wished the jar was bigger so you can make another!
The third (and most important) reason is one of the best films of last year (in our opinion) — Paddington 2. If you haven’t seen it yet then it’s a must, what a fabulous film! It’s a complete pleasure to watch and we experienced a complete first at the cinema — when the lights came on, every person in that room had a smile on their face.
My favourite part was the marmalade scene, I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it for you but please watch it with a slice of this cake in your hand! 😀
